- About the Photo: I still wanted to post some "exotic" pictures from Delhi (may be I will later some day!), but thought this blog should also portray the reality/present once in a while. SO, here it is - a photograph that I took yesterday of the flooded river Ouse in York. It is not unusual scene at York, as this river floods every year. But this year it came very close to matching the massive flooding of 2000. According to the weather report I heard on BBC's local TV, the flood level when it peaked yesterday was only a metre below what it was in 2000. A metre seems a huge difference, but if it had rained more for only a few hours, that metre difference could have easily been wiped out...or so I think! Anyway, more sign of global warming, as we would like to blame everything on these days? May be yes, because, strangely, the temperature in mid January (in most parts of the UK) is still 10+ degrees...I was expecting some snow by now!?! I have put up some more flood photographs in my flickr here.

what is this man? Really a pitty photo
Please elaborate Raj, I couldn’t comprehend your comment!
Great blog and pics (except the one with Aldi supermarket in!) Maheshji.
I was there in 2000 when the Uni student newspaper had a great headline: ‘floody hell’! The uni lake overfilled and my brother’s dorm was ruined.
Anyway it does seem like winter has been cancelled this year!
Thanks a lot Jamesji. Yea, that ALDI shot was a bit dodgy! I hope you liked the Iceland supermarket one

no worries Raj, I just couldn’t understand what you meant in your earlier comment so asked to expand on that. anyway, thanks for your kind words…but of course, constructive criticisms are always welcome too! and good luck with your photography/journalism training!
